He’s a bit of a dawg in the first story but my sense was that he didn’t make promises he couldn’t keep either. (I do admit that for some reason I thought Bridger was his last name until I read this book). Why I read it: After I read The Year We Fell Down I had such a good book hangover, I bought this and the sequel/spin-off novella as well, and proceeded to glom.
